My packages

As The Spoke's Broadcast Editor I created a variety of accompanying broadcast packages that went with print stories. Our paper is divided into four sections, News, T/E Life (features), Sports and Opinion. Throughout the last year I've focused on creating a variety of packages across these sections. Here are some of my best!

News Packages

Shifting schedules: New mixed-model schedule approved for 2024-25 school year

Changing from a standard 8 period day to a mixed model schedule is a major shift for Conestoga students, teachers and administrators. With this package, my goal was to logically explain the new model. Using video, I captured the excitement and anxiety that various stakeholders expressed. Encapsulating the most relevant aspects from the front-page accompanying article in a 2-minute package was a challenge.

Science curricula to change district-wide

As a science enthusiast, I was immediately captivated by the topic on changing the science curriculum standards. Portraying people's emotions when they are describing logistic changes can be challenging. With this package I struck a balance between the information provided and the interviewees' thoughts and excitements for the updated curricula.

Sports Packages

Boys Soccer goes undefeated, hopes for state title

The excitement and tension of a sporting event are the perfect ingredients for a broadcast package. The boys’ soccer team dominated their games and were ranked 10th in the nation. The high action b-roll and insightful quotes makes this package one of my favorites.

Girls Rugby plays at state championship

Girls Rugby often does not receive enough recognition. In covering this story, I was surprised by the welcoming and inclusive community that the team had created. Through my package, I not only captured the team's success but also their focus on building bonds and community.

Feature Packages

Freshman opens bike repair business, Dom Fixes Bikes

Freshman Dom Pecora was 10 years old when he launched an aptly-named bike repair business: Dom Fixes Bikes. Since then, Pecora has transformed his company into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and leased a space in Malvern. Highlighting Pecora's business had been on The Spoke's radar for a while, so when Pecora started his freshman year, Managing Editor Shreya Vaidhyanathan and I were eager to cover Pecora and his business.
